Making and Difference, Need a job? Volunteer Now
Things definitely are getting tougher with the numbers of those unemployed growing. While 50,000 are claiming unemployment benefit, it is estimated many more can not bring themselves to register.
There are many ways to find a job, some are well know and will attract the bulk of job seekers. The trick is to have your CV standout from the rest. What if there was a way to jump the queue. Well, volunteering may be just the way to do that. At TEAR Fund a number of our staff today started as volunteers.
Volunteer NZ has a great website that gives insight into where to start. Volunteering gets you out into the market, in front of people who could be potential employers, or know potential employers.
You can broaden your work experience, skills and maintain those important disciplines that come with getting up and heading out the door to a regular work activity.
